New global energy order emerging
June 30 2008 - By bringing together the world’s major oil producers and consumers in Jeddah last week, Saudi Arabia marked a turning point in the negotiations for a new global energy order that is emerging under the weight of soaring oil prices, which are driven by factors other than supply and demand. For poor countries, the steady rise in oil prices has taken on nightmare proportions. At the start of the Jeddah meeting, Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah suggested that OPEC create a one billion dollar fund to compensate poor countries for the rising price of oil.

Al-Ghazzali Centre is undertaking a significant project in collaboration with Canterbury City Council, to regenerate fauna and flora along Cooks River. Al-Ghazzali Centre is developing a sustainable ecology program with Canterbury City Council to include the establishment, protection and maintenance of the natural ecosystems and wildlife corridor to regenerate this environmental disaster zone.
